The first joint webinar of DGRI and JIPITEC is dedicated to the transatlantic perspective on
the recently adopted Data Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 ("Data Act"). The Data Act introduces a
right for users of machines and devices to access the data they generate. The EU's aim is to
strengthen competition for services based on machine data. The service providers who can
make use of these new opportunities do not have to be based in the EU, but can also operate
from the USA or Canada. This raises the question of what opportunities there are for
companies from the USA and Canada and what opportunities and risks this entails for
consumers and companies in the EU.
The webinar is the first in a loose series of webinars that DGRI will offer together with the
open access journal JIPITEC - Journal of Intellectual Property, Information Technology and
Electronic Commerce Law - on current issues of IT law from an international perspective.
DGRI supports the editorial work of the JIPITEC editors.

DGRI members, JIPITEC readers and anyone interested in IT law are welcome to attend.
